Das E-Business Weblog: Four ways to use OpenBC more effectively

Prompted by a question in an OpenBC-Forum Martin Röll gave some suggestions on how to use OpenBC:

Das E-Business Weblog: Four ways to use OpenBC more effectively

I can subscribe to his hints although I post too little in Forums ;)

As he asked I'll add some more:

1- Go through the people you met now and then and check if they are on OpenBC, if you think, taht a connection might make sense for both of you: Connect. (As Martin said: Don't connect just to grow your network.)

2- Use the search-feature to scan automatically for

a-- New people in OpenBC at plaves where you lived and studied. Some old friends might crop up.

b-- New people in your hometown (if it is a smaller town like mine). You might wanna meet for coffee sometime.

c-- New people in the 'second degree' in larger cities around you. Might also be people you know.

d-- New people who offer similar things than you or are looking for the things you offer.

You maybe should not contact all of the above if you have not met them. Specially in categories c) and d).

3- Have a look what forums the people are in who do similar things, you might discover a good forum for sharing hints and information.

4- Don't use OpenBC as a replacement for E-Mail. (OK, I also do that sometimes, if I come across sombody that I wanted to send something to or ask something for some time...)

5- Attend local meetings. If there are none: Organize one.

So much for now ;)
