Calacanis: What I Learned from Zuckerberg's Mistakes.
Funny how Jason some time ago told Zuckerberg what he did wrong and is now implementing Zuckerbergs developer-driven product development ;)
No, I am a Calacanis fan and I think is shows greatness that Jason changed his mind (partially) ;) )
Central quote:
Facebook's success -- and mistakes -- are based on its developer-driven culture, not because Zuckerberg is some evil mastermind.
The Zuckerberg Doctrine: Developers design products with significantly improved speed and functionality compared to product managers and designers, outweighing potential mistakes and drawbacks.
Said another way:
"Misunderstandings and neglect create more confusion in this world than trickery and malice. At any rate, the last two are certainly much less frequent."
- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, "The Sorrows of Young Werther," 1774
